OUR MISSION STATEMENT

In the information gathering stage of the Long Range Planning Committees’ efforts, several questions emerged about the Temple.

1. What is the congregation’s identity?
2. What do our members expect of the congregation?
3. How does the congregation respond to these basic needs?
4. What unifies us as a congregation?
5. What makes the Temple unique?

As the committee addressed these questions, a common theme emerged. The Long Range Planning Committee determined that this common theme could best be articulated in a Mission Statement that would serve as a guide to steer all of Temple life through the present and into the future. The Long Range Planning Committee also determined that a Mission Statement would serve as a template that leaders and others in the congregation could use to determine their focus and make decisions. From the considerable and insightful congregational input the following Mission Statement emerged:

Our Mission at The Temple is to nurture and cultivate a caring, inclusive, educated, and vibrant Reform Jewish congregation through the four primary functions of synagogue life: House of Learning (Beit Midrash),House of Worship (Beit Tefilah), House of Community (Beit Knesset), and House of Social Justice (Beit Tikkun Olam). In fulfilling these integrated functions, the Temple strives to foster an environment where our members create and participate in the shared experiences of learning, living, and growing as Jews.
